Sumatra Tano Batak *New Crop*

Flavor Notes:

Mango, Pineapple, Hops

From Our Cupping Lab:

The Tano Batak returns with its earthy and tropical fruit complexity. We are happy to see this coffee return to us here at the lab.  This time around we're tasting intense complex tropical notes of mango and pineapple that bring a juicy almost fruit tea like quality to the cup. It's rounded out by that classic earthy quality Sumatran coffees are known for.  It's been performing great as a french press and has excellent clarity through paper filters. A great cup that isn't overbearing, can be enjoyed daily!

From Our Importer: Olam Specialty Coffee

Tano Batak is an Olam Specialty Coffee premium brand. Tano Batak coffee comes from the Lintong and Dolok Sanggul regions near South Lake Toba in Sumatra. At 1,400 to 1,550 masl, this region has the highest coffee growing altitudes in North Sumatra. Olam Specialty Coffee works with six collectors that buy coffee directly from small farmers and in weekly village markets. The collectors wet hull the coffee at 28-32% moisture and then dry it in green houses. Once around 11-12% moisture, they run the coffee over densametric tables before sending it to Olam in Medan for hand sorting. Given the exceptional quality of these coffees, we process each lot separately as microlots.
